About the Builders League of South Jersey
Founded in 1940, the Builders League is a housing industry trade association of builders, remodelers, developers, suppliers, subcontractors, lenders, consulting professionals and others involved in providing residents with places to live and work in South Jersey. The Builders League, which is comprised of firms from Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, Cape May and Atlantic counties, is an affiliate of the New Jersey Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders
Position Overview
The Builders League of South Jersey is seeking an experienced, strategic, and relationship driven Executive Vice President (EVP) to lead the organization's operations, advocacy efforts, membership initiatives, and longterm vision. The EVP serves as the chief staff executive, reporting to the Board of Directors, and is responsible for advancing the League's mission while ensuring strong organizational performance and member value.
This is a highly visible leadership role requiring exceptional communication skills, industry awareness, and the ability to build meaningful connections with members, policymakers, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Direction
- Provide executive leadership to the organization, ensuring alignment with the Board's goals and the League's mission.
- Develop and implement strategic plans, annual objectives, and longterm initiatives.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the League.
Advocacy & Government Affairs
- Oversee and guide the League's legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts at the local, state, and regional levels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with elected officials, regulatory agencies, and policy stakeholders.
- Communicate industry issues, positions, and priorities to members and the public.
Membership Engagement & Growth
- Lead membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies.
- Ensure high quality programs, events, and services that deliver value to members.
- Foster a strong, inclusive, and collaborative membership culture.
Operations & Financial Management
- Oversee day to day operations, staff management, and organizational performance.
- Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and responsible stewardship.
- Prepares monthly financial reports for all areas of the association
- Maintain compliance with all legal, regulatory, and governance requirements.
- Serves as Treasurer of the BLSJ Scholarship Foundation; oversees the annual scholarship program.
- Serves as Treasurer of the South Jersey Builders Political Action Committee; files quarterly NJ Election Law Enforcement Commission Reports.
Communications & Public Relations
- Guide the League's communications strategy, including publications, digital content, and public messaging.
- Represent the organization at industry events, community functions, and partner meetings.
- Strengthen the League's visibility and reputation across South Jersey.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in association management, government affairs, housing, construction, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of public policy, regulatory processes, and advocacy strategies.
- Exceptional communication, relationship building, and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, staff, and organizational operations.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute plans and deliver measurable results.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CAE designation preferred.
